Double Coated Foam Tapes

Double Coated Foam Tapes offer a thicker and more compressible profile than film or paper based double coated tapes. This creates an improved bonding performance and conformability on highly textured surfaces as well as providing suitable void fill and cushioning when mounting non-flat substrates. Double Coated Polyethylene (PE) Foam Tapes are the most economical option offering the best balance of performance and price moderate internal foam strength & great adhesion. Variations on these tapes include foam thickness (1/32, 1/16,1/8), adhesive type (rubber or acrylic) and color (white or black). Choice of tape is dependent upon the substrates being bonded, application conditions (indoor or outdoor), and color required.

Which Foam Tape is right for your application?
Rubber based adhesive systems provide immediate quick stick so they tend to bond faster to a wide range of surfaces.
Acrylic based adhesive systems  will increase bond strength over time and are the best choice for applications where UV conditions and elevated temperatures are involved (outdoor exposure)

3M 4416 PVC Foam Tape

Double Coated PVC Foam Tape

3M, one of the biggest and most recognizable names in tapes and adhesives, manufactures an extensive line of double coated foam tape, including this PVC foam tape 4416. This vinyl foam tape is 1/16" thick and is coated with an acrylic adhesive. It's a closed cell foam tape that's designed for general-type mounting and for joining. It provides good cushioning, remains flexible, is easily conformable and resistant against the weather and against solvents.

Double coated foam tapes from 3M will seal and cushion, dampen vibrations and withstand great temperature fluctuations. They can be used to bond to irregular and/or rough surfaces both permanently or for temporary, repositioning use. This 4416 vinyl foam tape is ideal for mounting nameplates, indoor signage, trim panels or wall corner protection. Adhesion to HSE (high surface energy) plastics is relatively high with this product, while adhesion to LSE (low surface energy) plastics is low. This tape comes in 36-yard long rolls and may be available in a variety of widths ranging from 1/4" to 1-1/2". The vinyl is white in color, with a green, 3.0 mil, 62-pound strength Kraft liner.
